Kithood:

Gingerpaw was born as Gingerkit to Briarshade and Cedarpelt. She was the only kit of her litter. Cedarpelt left Shadowclan only a few days after Gingerkit's birth, causing Briarshade to become extremely protective of her kit. She constantly smothered Gingerkit. This caused the young she-cat to resent her mother and begin to idolize Dawnstar. Towards the end of her kithood, Gingerkit met Whisperkit. Gingerkit began antagonizing Whisperkit, staring a bitter rivalry between the two. 

Apprentice:

At 6 moons, Gingerkit was named Gingerpaw and was apprenticed to Meadowdust. Despite this, she still spends her time the same way she did as a kit. Bullying Whisperpaw.

At 8 moons, she took part in running dogs from Shadowclan. Later, she took part in saving Twilightstar from the vultures and was given a new mentor: Cloudheart.

At 9 moons, she was selected by Dawnstar to join a patrol to seize territory from Windclan. This resulted in a border skirmish, and Gingerpaw's first battle with other cats. She did terrible.
